Christopher Martinez’s ICE Abduction

Brief

Christopher Martinez was unlawfully detained by ICE on July 1st, 2025 and denied access to speak with an attorney. This was carried out with coordination and assistance from Helena Police (HPD) and the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), based on resemblance to another Hispanic person that they were looking for.

ICE took Christopher to an undisclosed location that day. Investigation has shown that according to the Cascade County Detention Center’s Inmate Roster, Christopher Martinez was checked into their detention center at 4:30pm on July 2nd.

Upper Seven Law filed a petition for Habeas Corpus on behalf of Christopher Martinez, which was granted by a federal judge in Missoula on July 2nd. This orders ICE not to remove Christopher Martinez from the state of Montana and sets a hearing for this case on July 10th.
